Katherine glided her way to the enterence of the spine, Her black single staped (on the shoulders) ankle length tunic brushing against her legs as she walked in through the stony path, her half-back length brown hair trailing behind her, and her feet that were barley visible under her tunic hidden in black slip-on-slippers that were studded with small silver studs, Identical to the ones along th waist of Katherine's dress.
Katherine walked further into the forest, her hands brushing against the tree's, she continued walking for a while, her eyes looking around for something, that apparently wasn't visible to her. Kate paused in her footsteps as she heard a gental brushing sound around her. She bit her lip as she turned her head around, she caught glimpse of a squirrel run by.
A smile flung onto her face. She made a light chirping noise, her insides filling with excitement. Slowly, very slowly, the squirrel peaked around from behind the tree it had vanished into, and looked at Katherine. Katherine's smile remained on her face, as she sat down leaning her back againt the tree. The squirrle came scurrying upto her, Katherine had always loved animals. She took off her slippers and spread out her feet, after a few moments passed by, the squirrle walked over her feet. Katherine couldn't help but laugh. Her laugh was shrill and chirpy, and echoing around the forest, it could be classified for slightly crazy. "Sweet arn't we?" she adressed the squirrle as she tilted her head to look at it. It merely gave Kate a puzzled look and began scurry around the place, most probably in hunt for nuts.

Kana spurred her horse, Loras, onward through the Spine, for the second time recently. There was another horse ahead, with a familiar figure astride it. 'Katherine!' she called out to the witch. She urged Loras closer. 'Shh, its ok' she murmered into the animal's ear as Loras gave a worried snicker, 'You remember Katherine, don't you?' Drawing level with Katherine, she slowed to a walk. 'Be careful' she advised in a friendly tone, 'These parts aren't safe any more'

Katherine's head turned towards her right when she heard the sound of her name echoing around the forest. It was a musical sweet voice. Katherine's eyes twinkled as she looked at the owner of the voice. "Kana!" she greeted back in her loud and shrill voice. Katherine stood up on her feet and moved barefoot towards Kana. The ground was cold, yet the leaves on it were warm, a weird tingling sensation entered Katherine's feet. Instead of walking, Katherine began to skip, and did a small spin before continuing to skip towards Kana. "How art thee" Katherine muttered in a sarcastic un-concerned voice before she randomly waved her wand and smiled at Kana.
Katherine touched her first two fingers to her lips as a formal gesture. "How may you be" she asked smiling. Katherine then looked down at Kana's horse. "Loras!" she exclaimed. Katherine could notice the uneasiness the horse had towards her. Katherine sighed, and she moved her hand forwards for the horse to smell. All horses - All animals in fact, recognised most people by their smell, and the easiest gesture to show the animal that you are allowing them to smell you, was by giving them your hand. Katherine kept her hand held out towards the house before she looked at Kana as she spoke. "Kana, Kana... Kana." Katherine sighed, though a natural smile lay on her face. Katherine tiled her head to one side. "What's life without a little risk?" Katherine shrugged her shoulders before adding "And, this is one of the only places where the King can not, or should I say dare not reach." A cheeky twinkle entered Katherine's eyes before she gave a small shrug, the smile still stuck on her face.

Kana touched her fingers to her lips, returning Katey's greeting. 'How remiss of me' she acceded, 'I had forgotten your love of waters unchartered' She smiled and rolled her eyes a little. 'I suppose you're right; he dare not make his presence known here - but times come, Katey, when all will change. Raisa and I were followed here not so long ago' She smiled. She hoped Katherine understood that she only spoke out of concern for her friend, and not to be haughty or superior. 'Loras knows you!' she laughed her musical laugh, when Loras sniffed Katherine's hand, and noticably relaxed.

Katherine's eyes jerked up as Kana mentioned the fact that they had been followed. "Followed?" Katherine muttered uncertainly. "Things are indeed going to change" Katherine admited with a sigh. "We can all see clearly that a war is knocking on the doorframe." Kate paused, taking her hand away from the horse. "I ought to go see the varden soon." Kate said in a hushed tone. "..and, I should pay a short visit to du weldenvarden, I miss the sight of the wonderful dragons." A smile scratched it's way upon Katherine's face before she sighed and added. "Let us not bother ourselves with all these..." Kate paused "...these... things" Katherine rolled her eyes.
"How has life befallen you? Our paths haven't crossed for a while now" Katherine leaned back against the closest tree, folding her arms across her chest, she looked over at the spot where her slip-on's lay, the squirrle was jumping about near the slipper, another shrill and chirpy laugh escaped Katherine.

Kana nodded. 'By both land and air' she replied, taking a glance upwards, although her atuned elven senses would know if they were being followed again. 'Islanzadi is readying troops' Kana said, refering to the war that Katherine had mentioned, 'She has appointed me her battle commander - a task I do not take lightly' She paused, and looked around her. 'The Riders are also stirring. It seems no one in Alagaesia will be left unaffected.' She dismounted, holding Loras by placing her hand lightly on her horse's quivering flank. 'I must say, I have been busy since we last met' she said, 'I have continued my travelling, but now it seems as though I must decide on a single place to stay. Ellesmera is in turmoil; I can only assume that I will be of more use there'

"Neither should you" Katherine said, raising her eyebrows, referring to what Kana has said about Islanzadí appointing her Battle Commander. "Nay, no one does. Mother had visited the Varden a few weeks ago, She says even they are preparing..." Katherine sighed, and let out a humorless laugh. "Well at least I may remain unaffected, seeing as I belong neither to the elves, to the Varden, nor the Empire. I'll be just another human, who will sit aside, while a war takes place." Katherine shrugged and took a small breath. She leaned further into the tree, causing her leg to prick against a bush.
She sighed, she pulled the bottom of her skirt off the plant and looked down at her foot, that had begun to bleed. "Now, what was that for?" she muttered sarcastically into the air, cursing under her breath. She sighed as she sat down on the floor, placing her right hand over the bleeding hole near the bottom front of her leg and muttering "Waíse Heill!" Her skin slowly patched up together leaving stains of dry blood near the front of her leg.
Katherine was used to performing small healing spells, though many people did get a bit suspicious of how she could manage it so easily being such a young human, but, Katherine only managed it because of the little elf blood in her. Though she didn't tell anyone about it, not anyone at all. The only living people who knew about it, where her mother, Katherine herself, and perhaps a few elves who knew her father, though he wasn't really well known amongst the elves, and all humans assumed him to be full humans.
"Du wyrda rakrí" The fate is misty Katherine sighed, her knowledge of the ancient language was limited, but she had read enough to know how to say a few simple words.

'Du fyrn jierda Alagaesia. Du baen varda du vanyali.' agreed Kana. 'The Varden too...' she echoed, 'All will be lost. The fate of the whole of Alagaesia hangs in the balance. We cannot afford to have a repeat of Du Fyrn Skulblaka. Anglát evarínya varda Alagaesia; varda Uru'Baen. We must be on our guard, seithr fricai' She looked at Katherine. She knew she had spoken a mixture of Katherine's language and her own, and she wasn't sure how far Katey's knowledge of the ancient language extended. It wouldn't matter though, she was sure the meaning of her words would be clear enough from the tone of her voice.
The war will break Alagaesia. Sorrow rules over the elves...Death rules over Alagaesia; over Uru'Baen...

"Aye," Kate muttered quietly as Kana mentioned the Du Fyrn Skulblaka. "Though, I doubt the need to that will arise, for if us all have a common enemy - Murtagh , and the elves, dwarves, riders and humans work together, The possibilities lie that we may just win over the King." Katherine sighed before saying something in the softest of whispers. "It startles me to know of the King as the brother of the legend Eragon." Katherine bit her lip before leaning away from the tree.
Katherine became quiet as Kana began to speak in the ancient language, Katherine listened intently, trying to catch every word and translate it, at the end she ended up with The war will break Alagaesia. The Sorrow over the elves...Death stars over Alagaesia; over Uru'Baen.. ... "Aye," Katherine muttered quietly. Though, when Kana said something about being on guard, Katherine got slightly lost. "seithr?" she asked a curiosity entering her voice, "Forgive me, my knowledge of the language isn't as wide as yours." Katherine muttered that in a bit of a cheeky tone.

'Seithr - witch' Kana smiled, 'And Fricai - friend' It had startled her too, to learn that Murtagh was Eragon's brother. That they could be so different and yet be related. Murtagh must have thought he could win over the people by being Eragon's brother, she thought, he must have thought that we could overlook the rest of him and not see him for what he truly is. 'Yes...' she said, 'We must all guard against the demons - both those which truly are and those which are bourne of the madness that war brings'

"True, true." Katherine muttered at Kana's last comment, she sighed, all this war talk wasn't much to her liking, she preferred not to think of bad things until they actually stood before her. She sighed again before walking over to the tree opposite her spinning as she went. She picked up her slip-ons and put them on her feet before walking back to Kana. "So, you will be leaving for Ellésmera again?" Katherine muttered quietly. Kana was a really close friend to her, even though their age distance was vast, Katherine always enjoyed Kana's company.
Katherine bit her lip, before she muttered "Seithr - witch." She sighed before a small smile touched her lips. "Kana, I understand time isn't in your favour for the moment, but I'd wonder if you'd want to drop by for a cup of tea?" Katherine paused. "Knowing you will be gone soon, and I unaware of and not permitted in your city's" Katherine paused again. "It'd be good to spend some time with you." She concluded with the small smile remaining on her lips.

'Of course' Kana smiled at her friend, 'I would love to'
She knew Katey wasn't able to enter Ellesmera, and it would be lovely to see Katey for a while on their own, just as friends, to socialise, before she had to leave.
'You make the best tea in all of Alagaesia' Kana smiled at Katherine, 'You know I won't refuse' She smiled and dragged her fingers through her hair, which the wind had messed up. 'I have a few more day' she explained to Katherine, 'And then I must leave to prepare for my duties'
